Health Camp 2016
18 April 2016
A free medical camp for the villagers of Jholunge, Ratmate and Nepane was held on 18th April 2016. It is the first instance for the villagers of these communities who walk three hours for nearest primary health care that got an opportunity to conveniently have their diseases examined by reputed team of doctors. A team of about 40 specialists from Kathmandu University Medical School conducted a comprehensive checkup of over 400 patients in just a day.
Moti Lal Majhi, an elderly from Jholunge expressed his joy about health camp in the village as he recalled his instances of walking for days to attend such health camps in faraway villages.
It was a successful event not just because the beneficiaries were mostly the survivors from completely devastated villages but because it ignited hope to commence a sustainable solution to address health issues of these marginalized communities. We look forward to start a locally run health dispensary providing primary health care to the people of this and nearby communities under health, nutrition and education program. A sustainable solution to combat the health issues of rural Nepal has become so important.
We are very grateful to Punyaarajan Foundation, the partner of our organization who has been supporting us in every way possible and not just by facilitating this camp. We also extend our gratitude towards doctors, medical personnel and interns of Dhulikhel Hospital and all the other individuals or organizations involved and specially towards coordinating and volunteering team from Rotaract Club of KUMS; you guys truly pulled off a marvel following near impossible odds. Educating Nepal thanks each and everyone of you for your dedication and support in the act of giving a helping to the forgotten community.
